Fitness class formats are indicated with the following codes:

CV = Cardiovascular Conditioning Level 1 = 10-20 min. Cardiovascular Conditioning
ST = Strength Training Level 2 = 20-35 min. Cardiovascular Conditioning
F =  Flexibility Training Level 3 = 35-55 min. Cardiovascular Conditioning

BASIC LOW IMPACT FLOOR AEROBICS (CV2) - A low impact floor aerobic class that uses basic movements and patterns.  Basic steps and rhythmic movements for the upper and lower body are designed to give you a safe and fun workout.  This is a great class for people who desire a  basic low impact cardio workout.

CARDIOBLAST (CV2) - Cardiovascular class designed to mix up your routine.  The instructor may choose some basic step moves, floor aerobics, intensity variations, or  boxing-type aerobics as a cardio option.   

CARDIOBOX (CV2) - Cardiovascular class which uses boxing-type moves to get the heart pumping.  The cardiobox circuit class incorporates intervals of core conditioning.

CORE (ST) - 15 min. of core work.

CYCLE 101 AND SOME (CV 2) - Great class for those who want to try the cycle class but are intimidated.  This class will teach you proper indoor cycle set-up, functional body mechanics, cycling terminology and techniques.  Your ride will be shorter than a typical cycle class to help you ease into group cycling.  Cues will be given at the 30 min. point in the class where you can begin your cooldown or stay an additional 15 min. of riding. This is a great cardio crosstrainer!

CYCLE (CV2) -  A popular alternative for aerobic training because it is non-impact.  An instructor guided 30-45 minute fitness class which uses Reebok® stationary cycles in a group setting.  Participants are guided through various routines.  Classes are easily adapted to a variety of fitness levels since each participant is in control of their bike.

FAB ABS (ST) - Killer  15 min. abdominal  and low back work.  Class builds core stability for injury prevention.

GOING BALLISTIC (ST/F) - A class designed to build core stability and strength, increase your flexibility , and improve posture while working with a large stability ball.   Members are required to bring their own stability ball with them to class.  The stability balls are available for purchase in the Physical Therapy office upstairs.

HATHA YOGA (F/ST) - A class designed to build strength, flexibility, and balance.  Attention is given to alignment, form, and breathing.  Class is appropriate for all levels.

HI/LO FLOOR CARDIO/STRENGTH (CV1/ST) - A hi/lo impact floor aerobic class which offers both aerobic and strength conditioning and can be modified for various fitness levels.  Great class for those intimidated by the faster-paced classes.

KILLER ABS (ST) - 15 min. of intense abdominal  and low back work designed to increase core stability/strength.

POWER HOUR (CV3/ST) Fitness class designed to mix up your routine.  The instructor may mix in strength training with weights, choose some basic step moves, floor aerobics, intensity variations, or  boxing-type aerobics as a cardio option.

STEP (CV3) - Low impact aerobic class which uses benches for the aerobic activity.

SILVERSNEAKERS®  MUSCULAR STRENGTH AND RANGE OF MOVEMENT (MSROM)  (CV1/ST/F) -  Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

STEP/CIRCUIT (CV3/ST) -  60 min. cardio/strength circuit class which alternates intervals of stepping and strength conditioning.  The goal of the class is to keep you in your aerobic zone for a minimum of 35-45 minimum and is a great total body workout in a short period of time.

TAI CHI (F) -  A class which is best thought of as a moving form of yoga and meditation combined.  This class  is great for a variety of ages and fitness levels as the movements are slow, soft and graceful with smooth and even transitions between them.

TAI CHI ADVANCED (F) - An advanced level Tai Chi class for those students who have been practicing consistently and have been approved by the instructor to progress to the advanced level.

MIXED YOGA (F) - Yoga for students with a variety of experience levels.  The instructor will provide cues and direction for both the beginners and more advanced students.

ULTIMATE STRENGTH (ST)  - This is a group strength training class appropriate for every fitness level .  Ultimate Strength is designed  to be both simple and effective in improving muscular strength, function, shape and definition.  This motivating and easy to follow class  helps to boost metabolism, increase bone density, and improve mobility.

WINTER CONDITIONING (ST/CV1) -  An overall conditioning class which will prepare you for winter sports.  The class will focus on injury resistant exercises for legs and joints and will include lateral movement training for speed and agility.  Specific exercises will work on building core strength and stability.  This is a great cross-training class to break the winter boredom.  All fitness levels are welcome, as members are offered modifications. 

YOGA FITNESS (F/ST) - A yoga class  designed to improve the health, performance, and mental acuity of athletes or individuals interested in improving their level of fitness. Based on the ancient fitness science of hatha yoga, it blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format.

YOGA/GENTLE BACK (F) - Yoga for students with a variety of experience levels.   Cues for protecting the back and joints will be provided. 

Aquatic Fitness Classes: View Calendar

Our pool is a therapy/fitness pool that can accommodate small groups of up to 12 individuals at varying depths.  The water depth ranges from 3 1/2 feet at the stair entry and slopes out to 6 feet at the deepest part.  We have flotation equipment available for our deep water exercisers as well as buoyancy dumbbells, noodles, resistance paddles, resistance cuffs and exercise tubing for exercisers who are looking for an increased challenge.

Supportive swimming suits are recommended as well as supportive aquatic fitness shoes for your protection.  Towels are not provided and should be brought from home.  Thank you for taking a moment to dry yourself off before leaving the pool area.  This assists us greatly by maintaining safety standards.  Plastic water bottles are encouraged for all fitness participants in order to maintain hydration levels. To ensure your space in class, please sign up at the front desk ahead of time.  You may sign up for a class two work days in advance. On the day of your scheduled class please check in at  the front desk.  Unless we are notified otherwise, if there are spots available in the pool 5 minutes after class begins, they will be given away to people on the waiting list.

Due to changes in the Washington State Law, children ages 16 and under are not allowed to use the pool at any time.  No exceptions.  Minors age 17 can not be in the pool alone.
Class Descriptions (listed from the most gentle to the most challenging, however people with severe joint problems or who have had joint surgery are encouraged to check with their doctors about the need for special precautions):

GENTLE  AQUA - 45 minute gentle class designed for the senior and/or individual looking for exercise that will be kind to the muscles and joints.  Excellent for post rehab, arthritis, and orthopedic conditions.

SENIOR  SPLASH - 45 minute class for the senior who is looking for increased range of motion, improved posture, muscle and cardio fitness, and new friends.  Class will typically include some abdominal and strength conditioning exercises.

SENIOR  CHALLENGE - 45 minute class for anyone looking to increase their cardiovascular health as well as challenge their existing fitness level.  Class format provided a 8 min. warm up, 30 min. cardiovascular conditioning, and a 8 min. cool down and stretch.

AQUAFIT - 60 minutes of challenging fitness movements to increase your cardio and muscle fitness.  Class format varies from interval training, steady cardio, and circuit training.  Class includes a minimum of 30 min. of cardiovascular conditioning and  is an  intermediate level class designed for aerobic improvements.

AQUABLAST -  Short, sweet, powerful heart pumping 45 minutes of intense cardio challenge without the impact of land. Extremely effective in obtaining and maintaining excellent cardiovascular results.  Not recommended for de-conditioned members.

GROUP FITNESS -  Time set aside for those who desire to work out together in the pool without the guidance of an instructor.  All are welcome.

REHAB - These scheduled hours are reserved for private aquatic physical therapy sessions that can be arranged through Kathi in physical therapy.
